During the Holy Month of Ramadan, the sacred cities of Mecca and Madina witnessed a significant surge in Umrah pilgrims. Muslims opt to undertake the pilgrimage during this sacred period to reap the maximum blessings associated with this time of the year.

Saudi authorities disclosed data indicating that over 5 million pilgrims paid a visit to Masjid e Nabwi in the initial week of Ramadan.

New Umrah Policy for Ramadan 2024

In response to the overwhelming number of visitors, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah introduced a new Umrah policy for the month of Ramadan.

The new guidelines stipulate that pilgrims will be permitted to perform only one Umrah during the month. This stringent measure is aimed at reducing the massive crowd and ensuring a safer pilgrimage experience for individuals who journeyed to the holy land from Pakistan and other parts of the globe.

The enforcement of the new policy will be carried out through Nusuk, a government-operated platform for processing Umrah permits online.

Individuals will be granted only a single permit to perform Umrah. The restriction on the number of pilgrimages per individual is intended to ensure that the chance for spiritual enrichment is distributed more equitably among all pilgrims.
