On Friday, a Ukrainian presidential adviser emphasized Kyiv’s request for its allies to lift restrictions on conducting long-range attacks inside Russia. The purpose behind this plea is to empower Ukraine to methodically target and eliminate Russian air bases from where aircraft launch attacks on Ukrainian territory.

Mykhailo Podolyak, speaking recently, articulated Kyiv’s objective to neutralize specific air bases used by Russian forces for what he described as “deliberate massive strikes against the civilian population and civilian objects.” This statement underscores Ukraine’s strategic goal to disrupt and dismantle Russian military capabilities that pose a direct threat to civilian lives and infrastructure.

The Ukrainian government’s appeal for expanded military authorization from its allies reflects escalating tensions and the severity of the conflict, as Ukraine seeks to defend its sovereignty and protect its populace from ongoing aerial assaults. The call for international support in lifting these restrictions underscores Kyiv’s determination to respond decisively to the continued aggression and humanitarian challenges posed by Russian military actions in the region.
