On Thursday, Sweden’s government announced that it would significantly increase grants for immigrants who decide to leave the country, aiming to encourage more migrants to make that choice.

Starting in 2026, the right-wing government, supported by the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats, will offer immigrants who voluntarily return to their home countries up to 350,000 Swedish kronor ($34,000). This amount marks a significant increase from the current 10,000 kronor, according to the government’s statement.
