On Thursday, Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for a drone strike on Tel Aviv, though Israeli authorities have yet to confirm the incident.

In their statement, the Houthis announced they had “conducted a military operation targeting a key location in the Jaffa area (Tel Aviv) of occupied Palestine using several Jaffa drones.” They further claimed that the drones successfully reached their objectives without being intercepted.

The Israeli military later reported intercepting “a suspicious aerial object” near central Israel overnight but did not elaborate further.

On Wednesday, the Houthis had also declared they launched cruise missiles at Israel, following Iran’s heavy bombardment of the country the previous night.

Last week, the rebels said they had targeted Ben Gurion International Airport with a missile, which led to Israeli airstrikes on Yemen, including attacks on the crucial port of Hodeida.

The Houthis, controlling vast areas of Yemen for the past decade, are aligned with Iran’s “Axis of Resistance” against Israel and the United States.

Since November, the group has also been attacking ships off Yemen’s coast in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, claiming these operations are acts of solidarity with Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
