Kentucky officials have dismissed claims of election fraud after a video circulating on social media appeared to show issues with a voting machine.

The video captures a voter trying to select former President Donald Trump on a touchscreen, but the machine did not immediately register the selection.

Laurel County Clerk Tony Brown clarified on Facebook that this was not fraud but rather a matter of how the screen was being touched. Brown explained that the voter who posted the video was able to cast their ballot successfully and confirmed their selections were correct.

Officials were able to replicate the issue by pressing an area “between the boxes,” rather than inside the box with the candidate’s name, as intended.

The machine was examined by both Laurel County officials and a representative from the Kentucky attorney general’s office. It had no prior issues or complaints and has functioned without problems since being returned to service. However, the attorney general’s office recommended removing the machine from use as a precaution.
