A fire broke out on an Air India aircraft shortly after it landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday. Flight AI 315 was arriving from Hong Kong when the blaze erupted in the aircraft’s Auxiliary Power Unit (APU). Fortunately, the automatic system shut down the APU, preventing the fire from spreading further.

According to reports confirmed by “Hindustan Times”, all passengers were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. The crew also remained unharmed. However, the aircraft sustained damage and has been grounded for further investigation.

Delhi International Airport Limited also confirmed the incident and said appropriate emergency measures were swiftly taken.

This marks the third Air India-related incident in just two days. On Monday, a Kolkata-bound flight was halted before take-off due to technical issues, and another flight from Kochi to Mumbai veered off the runway during landing because of poor weather conditions.

The series of mishaps has raised concerns over Air India’s operational safety and aircraft maintenance protocols.
