Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that, Israel has agreed to certain conditions aimed at finalizing a 60-day cease-fire with Hamas.

The President indicated that the United States and Israel are in the process of formalizing an agreement, though specific details of the conditions were not disclosed.

The statement was made on Truth Social, Trump’s platform, ahead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to Washington scheduled for next week. The Israeli government has not yet issued an official response or confirmed any agreement to the proposed conditions.

Trump emphasized his efforts to encourage a resolution to the nearly two-year conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Trump said his representatives had a “long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza,” and if the cease-fire is agreed upon, there would be talks about a permanent end to the conflict in Gaza. He said the proposal backed by the United States and Israel would be delivered to Hamas by Qatar and Egypt, countries that have long served as mediators for the Palestinian militant group in its indirect negotiations with Israel over an end to the war in Gaza.

“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better — it will only get worse,” Trump wrote.

This announcement follows a recent tweet from Trump where he claimed a separate cease-fire agreement between Israel and Iran.

It also coincides with reports of the U.S. participating in Israeli-led strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, amidst heightened tensions in the region.
