Bengaluru: Chaos broke out at a private bank in Bengaluru, Karnataka, after the bank’s Wi-Fi network name was suddenly changed to “Pakistan Zindabad.”

According to Indian media, customers and bank staff panicked when they saw the new Wi-Fi name. Police reached the scene soon after being informed.

A man named Govardhan Singh, who is reportedly linked to the Hindu nationalist group Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s youth wing Bajrang Dal, filed a complaint. He said he found the Wi-Fi name suspicious and believed it could be part of some anti-national activity.

Bank’s explanation:

The bank’s management said that a local technician was fixing the Wi-Fi network when the name changed. They claimed the change happened during maintenance work and they were unaware of it until later.

Police said they tried to contact the technician, but he had already left the bank, and his phone was switched off. An official complaint has been filed, and the police have launched a search for him.

Media reaction:

Indian news channels and newspapers have called the incident a “cyber prank” and “anti-national slogan.” The case has also sparked debate on social media.

Officials stated that only after a full investigation will it be clear whether this was a harmless prank or a deliberate act to provoke religious or political tension.
