WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump said that the recent strike on Iran was necessary to help achieve the Gaza peace agreement. He also hinted that he may visit Egypt soon to ensure full implementation of the Gaza peace plan.

Speaking during a cabinet meeting, Trump expressed hope that hostages in Gaza would begin to be released starting Monday and that a lasting peace in the region was finally within reach.

He said that after the Gaza peace deal is signed, he also plans to visit Israel. “I stopped seven wars around the world, and the eighth will soon end,” Trump said, adding that the war in Gaza has now been brought to an end.

The president noted that all Middle Eastern countries were supporting the Gaza peace plan and that efforts would be made to rebuild the Gaza Strip.

Trump added that Iran now wants to work for peace, and the United States is ready to cooperate in that process.
