Karachi Rain: 36-year-old rainfall record has been broken

Karachi has seen an abundance of rain this monsoon after which the 36-year-old record for rainfall has been broken.

According to the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall of 298.4 mm was recorded in Faisal Base in 1984 while 345 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Faisal Base so far this month.

The meteorological department report said that the highest rainfall of 272 mm was recorded in Masroor base in 2007 while 228.5 mm of rainfall was recorded in Masroor base so far this month.

The Meteorological Department report further said that the highest rainfall recorded at MOS Old Airport was 262.5 mm in 1979 while 168.9 mm rainfall was recorded at MOS Old Airport so far this month.

Earlier, the Meteorological Department had released a record of 24 hours of rain in the city of Quaid.

Meteorological Department said that the highest rainfall of 105 mm was recorded in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and 45.5 mm in Landhi.

Rainfall of 11.4 mm was recorded at Jinnah Terminal, 4.2 mm in North Karachi, 2 mm in Nazimabad, 2.6 mm in Surjani Town and 8.4 mm on University Road.

Meteorological Department stated that 10.1 mm rain has been recorded in the Saadi Town area of Karachi while 13 mm rain has been recorded at Faisal Base during the last 24 hours.
