KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that disinformation and misinformation have become powerful tools of modern conflict.

Speaking at a Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) event in Karachi, Bilawal stated, “Just as the Pakistani armed forces defeated India on the battlefield, the Pakistani media has triumphed over Indian media in the war of narratives.”

He added that while Indian media became entangled in falsehoods and propaganda, Pakistani media played a responsible role by presenting facts and informing the world with integrity.

Bilawal Bhutto said that disinformation and misinformation have become a weapon, terrorists are spreading disinfecting in regards to Kashmir, Balochistan and Sindh. He has announced that efforts will be made to introduce legislation against disinformation in collaboration with the PFUJ.

He added that even today there are challenges in terms of freedom of journalism, hopefully the federal government will appreciate the journalist community and review some of its policies.
