KARACHI: The different parts of Karachi received light to heavy rain on Friday morning while the Sindh government has already declared a rain emergency across the Sindh province.

Rain is continuing intermittently in North Karachi, Surjani Town, Manghopir, Northern Bypass, Korangi Industrial Area, and Malir areas of Karachi.

It should be noted that the Meteorological Department had predicted four spells of rain in Karachi from this afternoon due to which a rain emergency was imposed in the city.

In the context of the forecast of rains, a half-day holiday has been announced in government and private institutions, while a holiday has been announced in private and government schools in the evening shift.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah imposed a rain emergency across the province and canceled the holidays by issuing a high alert in all local bodies, administrations, and hospitals.

The Chief Minister of Sindh has also appealed to the people not to leave their homes unnecessarily, while an emergency cell has also been set up in the Cantonment Headquarters.

On behalf of KMC, machinery for rainwater drainage has been delivered across Karachi city.

Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that the city's drains and choke points have been opened.

The weather expert maintained that the spell of rain across Pakistan is likely to last till March 3.
