Indian singer and music director Salim Merchant has plagiarized the song of Pakistani Suno Chanda fame actor and singer Farhan Saeed.

Farhan Saeed took to twitter and wrote “Someone just sent me Salim Merchant song HAREYA, which is a total copy of my song ROIYAAN.”

I wonder they have the audacity to call themselves artists when they steal someone’s work. All you have to do is ask and if you don’t have to ask, then you should at least make it listenable! He added.

In response to the Farhan Saeed’s tweet, Salem Merchant said, “Farhan I just heard your song. It’s a mere coincidence that the chorus of Haareya is like your song. To be honest I’ve never heard it before. It happens many a times when notes have a natural progression from each other. Sulaiman & I have a track record of never plagiarizing.

Farhan Saeed sarcastically replied that another coincidence is that the lyrics of the two songs are exactly the same.

In the end he ended the conversation by saying ‘good luck’.

In a response, Salem Merchant further said, “If I had to copy, I would have done that way long back in my career. I really wish I had heard your song before I made mine. Would have surely made changes to our composition to make it sound different from yours. Anyway, Hope you understand.”

Farhan Saeed’s song ‘ ROIYAAN ‘ became popular as soon as it was released in Pakistan.

This song from the album ROIYAAN, released in 2014, has also won the Song of the Year award at the Lux Style Awards.
