Preparations in full swing to inaugurate Kartarpur Corridor

Prime Minister Imran Khan on November 9 will inaugurate the historic Kartarpur Corridor, the first visa-free corridor between Pakistan and India.

The inauguration will held three days before the 550th birth anniversary Baba Guru Nanak to be celebrated on Nov. 12.

In a short span of one year, Pakistan has completed the construction, signed an agreement with India after tough negotiations and gifted the Kartarpur Corridor to Sikh community for promoting religious harmony.

Meanwhile, thousands of Sikh pilgrims are on their way to visit Baba Guru Nanak’s shrine- the founder of Sikhism, who died in the 16th Century.

Without a visa, Sikh pilgrims are allowed to visit the shrine on the 550th Birth Anniversary of the founder of Sikhism.

The corridor leads from the border straight to the Gurdwara.

While Sikh pilgrims do not need a visa for Pakistan; however they are required to obtain a permit before their departure.

Indian government has allowed Navjot Singh Sudhu to attend the opening ceremony of Kartarpur Corridor.

Sidhu Singh said that I will be honored to attend the inauguration of Kartarpur on November 9, and will never forget the love and hospitality I would receive.

Special song on Kartarpur corridor had also been released with a message of peace, love and religious harmony.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan waived off two requirements for the Sikhs coming for pilgrimage to Kartarpur from India.

In a tweet, he said the Sikhs from India would not need a passport now but just a valid identity card.

They no longer have to register ten days in advance.
