Peshawar Zalmi Appoints Hashim Amla thier Batting Mentor

Peshawar Zalmi has appointed Hashim Amla as their batting mentor for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020.

The appointed was announced by the team owner Javed Afridi on his Twitter account “His gracious presence in the PSL 5 festivity will not only adorn the Zalmi dugout but also inspire and craft the cricket skills of the emerging players in the squad,” Afridi tweeted.

Amla have not played in the PSL, but he brings huge T20 experience to the Peshawar Zalmi squad. The South African has played 44 T20 matches for his country, including three T20 World Cups. He has also played for various T20 leagues around the world.

Head Coach and Director of Peshawar Zalmi Mohammad Akram said he was happy on Amla’s association with Peshawar Zalmi. “His experience will help all the batsmen in the team,” he said.

Hashim Amla joins former West Indies international Darren Sammy in a mentoring capacity, with the former Zalmi captain moving into a mentoring role, starting this season. Head coach Mohammad Akram, manager Arshad Khan and spin-bowling coach Saqlain Mushtaq are also part of the backroom staff for the side.
