First Case of Coronavirus reported in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia on Monday announced the first coronavirus case in the Kingdom. Coronavirus was identified in a Saudi citizen who travelled from Iran to the Saudi Arabia via Bahrain, Saudi Press Agency reported on Monday.

According to the details, the person did not informed Saudi authorities that they had visited Iran before Bahrain.

Saudi Arabia’s health ministry said that they have sent an infection control team to check on the infected citizen, and to take a sample for laboratory examination, as part of its precautionary measures.

The results confirmed the man was infected with COVID-19.

The Kingdom’s health ministry said it had ensured that the person remained in isolation ward of the hospital and is receiving treatment.

Apart from this all those who were in contact with the person were counted, and samples were taken from them for examination by the National Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

Earlier Saudi Arabia placed an immediate ban on Umrah pilgrims travelling from the countries where coronavirus cases have been confirmed, including Pakistan.
