The K-Electric city’s power supplier on Sunday refused the advice of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to waive off electricity bills for people for the month of March and charge the dues in installments over the next 10 months as offices and businesses remain closed in the wake of coronavirus lockdown.
A spokesperson of K-Electric said the due dates for bills under Rs 4,000 have been extended. Consumers can pay their bill by April 10.

“Despite facing challenges, the K-Electric is providing uninterrupted power supply to the citizens,” the spokesperson said. “To ensure this, it is necessary to purchase fuel.

“The provincial and federal officials have yet to pay Rs240 billion worth of dues,” the KE representative said.
Earlier, CM Murad Ali Shah had directed the K-Electric to not charge consumers whose bills are under Rs5,000 for the month of March.
