PM Imran Khan approved to shut Pakistan Railways operation from 24 March to March 31 amid coronavirus outbreak.

The coronavirus, has claimed seven lives and affected more than 900 people across the country so far, as the administration took action to stop the spread of the virus.

Earlier the government retracted a notification issued to the shut operations of Pakistan Railways, but today the PM gave a go-ahead.

Sheikh Rashid Ahmed Federal Minister for Railways presided a session via video link on Tuesday, after which the notification to suspend train operation was issued.

As per the notification issued by Pakistan Railways the train operation will remain suspended from 24 April till 31 March.

Sindh government demanded the Railway ministry to shut operations to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The total number of coronavirus cases rose to 908 as new cases were reported from all parts of the country.

According to the national National Command and Control Centre for the coronavirus, out of the total of 916, 407 cases were reported in Sindh, 265 in Punjab, 110 in Balochistan, 80 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 38 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whereas 15 people were diagnosed with the deadly virus in Islamabad and one in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
