A doctor in Los Angeles says that he sees considerable success in recommending a drug named hydroxychloroquine with zinc to treat coronavirus patients.

The international news stated that the drug hydroxychloroquine has been previously suggested by the US President Donald Trump as a possible treatment for coronavirus. However, the suggestion remained controversial.

Hydroxychloroquine is widely used to treat malaria and other conditions such as arthritis and lupus. FDA had not approved it for the treatment of COVID-19. But it has permitted its trials. The limited emergency authorization has been provided for its use.

But, the Los Angeles Anthony Cardillo said that he has noticed amazing results of treating severely-ill patients with hydroxychloroquine with zing.

He reported to the international news agency, “Every patient I’ve prescribed it to has been very, very ill and within 8 to 12 hours, they were basically symptom-free,” “So clinically I am seeing a resolution.”

Dr. Cardillo said that it only works well when combining it with zinc. He explained that medicine creates a channel for the zinc to enter the cell and block virus replication.

He also said that the medicine is not suitable for patients having mild symptoms of COVID-19, as doctors may face a shortage.

“We have to be cautious and mindful that we don’t prescribe it for patients who have COVID who are well,”

“It should be reserved for people who are really sick, in the hospital or at home very sick, who need that medication. Otherwise, we’re going to blow through our supply for patients that take it regularly for other disease processes.”

The FDA allows the intake of this drug only when prescribed by the doctors.
