The former spy chief of Iraq, Mustafa Kadhemi became prime minister on Thursday (May 7). The decision was taking when the state facing a shocking economic crisis due to coronavirus pandemic.

The parliament has approved the new government overnight later last-moment changes to the cabinet line-up, the former chief of the National Intelligence Service (INIS) was nominated by President Barham Saleh.

It is to be noted that it was the third attempt to replace outgoing premier Adel Abdel Mahdi.

The president of Iraq congratulated the new PM of Iraq on his official twitter.

American troops injured in Iraqi rocket attack

Earlier in March, Iraqi security officials said that  a barrage of rockets hit a base housing U.S. and other coalition troops north of Baghdad just days after a similar attack.

The officials said over a dozen rockets landed inside the base. Some struck the area where coalition forces are based, while others fell on a runway used by Iraqi forces.

On the other hand United States official military Spokesperson for Operation Inherent Resolve Colonel  Myles B. Caggins says at least 25 rockets hit Camp Taji today in the brazen attack which occurred in broad daylight, which is rare.
