The Sindh government has lifted the ban on pillion riding for children, the elderly and women in Karachi.

Sindh Home Department issued the notification according to which Law enforcement, journalists and other staff will not be exempted. Order issued under the Epidemic Act 2014.

The people are also appealed to cooperate fully with the police and administration keeping in view the observance of this law so that they can avoid any extraordinary situation.

Earlier in April, Pillion riding had been completely banned in Karachi no one was exempted.

According to a notification issued by the Home Department in April, the pillion riding exemption for women, children, senior citizens and journalists in Karachi has been abolished and law enforcement agencies have been directed to strictly enforce it.

Officials say the decision was made following complaints from families about the unnecessary use of the pillion ride.
