Pakistan to resume 20% domestic flights from tomorrow

Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said that it has been decided to resume domestic flights from May 16.

He said that the final decision on resumption of domestic flights was taken at a meeting of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) yesterday.

Ghulam Sarwar Khan also said that flight operations would be launched in Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.

He said that initially 20 percent domestic operations were commenced from May 16, while 50 percent seats would be maintained keeping in view the SOPs related to social distance.

Ghulam Sarwar said that the Aviation Division was making every effort to facilitate the passengers to travel safely.

Civil aviation had temporarily suspended domestic and international flight operations on March 25 due to the prevailing situation of the coronavirus in the country.

The decision was taken by the government after consultation with all airline operators.

Note that the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has reached more than 38,000 while the number of deaths has reached 822.

On February 26 the first case of coronvirus was reported in the country ater which various measures were taken at the government level and first educational institutions were closed so that the virus could not spread among students and teachers. and then government went for the lockdown.

Due to coronavirus lockdown, various restrictions have been imposed on business centers, shopping malls, parks, recreational places, intercity buses, passenger trains, unnecessary exits, but in recent days, the lockdown has been relaxed and shops have been allowed to open.

Although the first case of the coronavirus was reported in Sindh, a Pakistani citizen who came from abroad was tested positive with COVID-19, it is now being transmitted locally from one person to another and a large number of such cases have been reported in the country as a whole.
