Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Mir Afzal has been appointed caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.

A notification has been issued by the Federal Government and Chairman Gilgit-Baltistan Council and he will take oath of office on June 25, 2020.

It is to be noted that Mir Afzal is from Astor Bunji area of ​​Gilgit-Baltistan.

On the other hand, according to official sources, the names of the caretaker cabinet have been finalized.

In Gilgit, the PML-N provincial government will complete its term on June 24.

Earlier, Gilgit-Baltistan Agriculture Minister Haji Janbaz Khan has died of the coronavirus.

The Health Department of Gilgit-Baltistan’s focal person Dr Shah Zaman confirmed the death of the provincial minister.
