Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a high-level meeting to review the availability of wheat and ensure control over flour prices.

The meeting decided to immediately lift all restrictions on the inter-provincial movement of wheat and also to remove check posts.

During the meeting, it was stated that an additional 2% duty is imposed on wheat imports and the prevention of smuggling of flour abroad will be ensured.

It was decided in the meeting that import of wheat would be allowed while there would be no restriction on the quantity of import and the duty imposed on the import of wheat would be completely abolished.

The meeting also decided to crack down on elements involved in stockpiling of wheat and flour on a large scale while also on prevention of smuggling of wheat and flour abroad.

The meeting reviewed the wheat production in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while the procurement of wheat by the provincial governments, existing stocks and requirements were reviewed in detail.

Note that The flour mill owners of Lower Mills have increased the price of flour in Punjab. The Flour Mill Association has announced an increase in the price of flour by Rs 3 per kg.

Before Ramadan, Atta Chakki Association was selling flour at Rs 62 per kg. Now Wheat is available in the open market at Rs 2,000 and Flour will be sold at Rs 65 per kg. Flour Mill Association.
