Cabinet postpones TV license fee hike: Shibli Faraz

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Shibli Faraz has said that the Federal Cabinet has postponed the issue of increase in the TV license fee.

Addressing a news conference after the federal cabinet meeting, Shibli Faraz has said that state institution PTV was destroyed by the previous governments and political recruitments were made during the tenure of PPP and PML-N.

Shibli Faraz said that assets of aides and advisers were not disclosed in the past. Assets of aides and advisers were also declared for the first time.

Information Minister Shibli Faraz said that the work of Diamer Bhasha Dam is being taken forward, Diamer Bhasha Dam is an old project which was not given attention in the past, the fruits of Diamer Bhasha Dam will be seen by the nation and it is a good plan for the future.

Shibli Faraz said that the matter of increasing PTV fees has been postponed till next week while the arrears of TV channels and newspapers will be paid till next week.

Shibli Faraz said that complaints related to wheat are being received, government and private people can also import wheat, initially, 3 to 4 thousand tons of wheat have been ordered, hoardings and stockpiling will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken.

The Federal Minister said that other institutions including Pakistan Steel are our pride, previous governments instead of improving these institutions led them to destruction.

Regarding the agenda, the Federal Minister said that the Cabinet has approved the Cash Management and Treasuries and Single Account Rules 2009 under which all the ministries, divisions and departments have an account from which funds will be released.

He termed the approval of a single treasury account as a big step.

Senator Shibli Faraz said that the Cabinet also approved the proposed Bill 2020 to amend the anti-money laundering laws, which would make the prevention of money laundering and terrorist support more effective.
