KARACHI: IG Sindh has announced a reward for the personnel who make traffic flow possible during rain in Karachi.

According to details, IG Sindh has announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 each for traffic police personnel who make traffic flow possible during the rain in Karachi.

IG Sindh appreciated the services of Section Officer, Ferozeabad, Meethadar. He said that the performance of the traffic police personnel during the rains was commendable.

During the rains in Karachi, dutiful traffic policemen were seen doing their duty so that the people would not face any trouble.

A day earlier, heavy rains had lashed various parts of Karachi, flooding roads and severely affecting the flow of traffic.

Rainwater was flowing turned Shahra e Faisal, Karachi’s busiest road into the pond, two and a half to three feet of water to stand on the road.

The traffic system was disrupted due to accumulation of rainwater at Regent Plaza, FTC, Nursery, Lal Kothi, Karsaz Flyover, Drigh Road Station, Star Gate and Airport.

While the citizens were in a hurry to return to their homes after the heavy rains, the traffic police personnel were on duty with due diligence.

The situation is getting worse rainwater entered the houses while two civilians including a policeman were killed due to electrocution.

Submerging knee-deep in the water near Lal Kothi, police officers were holding wireless in their hands and trying to improve the flow of traffic even in this difficult time.

There were some traffic policemen who were constructing a drainage ditch.

At the same time, Sindh Police and Rangers personnel also helped the citizens trapped in the traffic jam and they pushed the vehicles out of the water and saved the citizens from great trouble.

Rainwater had also accumulated in Jinnah Hospital in Karachi due to which patients were facing severe difficulties

After receiving the information, the SHO of Saddar police station sent the personnel of the police station to drain the water.

Users on the social networking site also praised the dutiful traffic policemen for performing their duty with full determination.
