Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that India was given consular access to spy Kulbhushan Jhadav but Indian diplomat did not even bother to talk to Kulbhushan and left without listening to him.

After Yadav met Indian officials, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said in a statement that he had repeatedly called on diplomats but they did not listen to him and left.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that all necessary steps were taken as per the need for consular access and two Indian diplomats were given consular access.

He said that consular access was given as agreed but “India’s malice was exposed, they did not want consular access.”

Shah Mehmood Qureshi further said that the diplomats did not have to talk to Kulbhushan so why did they ask for access.

“Indian diplomats objected to the glass in the middle. It was also removed. The diplomats objected to the audio and video recording. We did not do that. We fulfilled all the wishes of the Indian diplomats, but they left.”

Earlier, the Pakistani Foreign Office said in a statement that consular access had been granted for the second time to meet Indian spy Kulbhushan Jhadav.

According to Foreign Office spokesperson Ayesha Farooqi, the meeting lasted for about two hours during which Indian officials were given an opportunity to speak openly with Kulbhushan Jhadav.

Ayesha Farooqi said that a few days ago, India had requested for consular access which was accepted by Pakistan.

Earlier, the first consular access to Kulbhushan Yadav was granted under the Vienna Convention on September 2, 2019, while in December 2017, Kulbhushan Jhadav’s wife and mother also met with him.

It may be recalled that on June 17 last month, Kulbhushan Jhadav was invited to file an appeal for review but Kulbhushan Yadav refused to do so.

On which the Foreign Office had said that despite the refusal of Kulbhushan Jhadav, the Indian government could file an appeal through the Indian High Commission.

On May 20, Pakistan enacted the ICJ Review and Reconciliation Ordinance, which allows Kulbhushan Jhadav or his lawyers to file a mercy petition within 60 days of the ordinance’s issuance.

It should be noted that the Indian High Commission has till July 20 to file an appeal in the Islamabad High Court.
