According to the foreign news agency, gunmen shot dead 60 people, including children, in Sudan’s Darfur region on Saturday.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), gunmen set fire to several villages and looted markets during the attack.

The UN report says the current riots in the Darfur region are due to the softening of the agricultural season and large-scale migration.

Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has lamented the loss of life and property in the riots and said more troops would be sent to the Darfur region.

On the other hand, no group has so far claimed responsibility for the riots in the Darfur region.

According to the United Nations, the riots in the Darfur region have so far killed about 300,000 people and displaced about 2 million.
