KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to operate more flights while expanding domestic flight operations.

PIA’s air operations are on track to be restored amid lockdown and restrictions during the Coronavirus pandemic. PIA has increased flights to Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta.

PIA has decided to operate two daily flights from Islamabad to Karachi while Lahore and Karachi will operate daily flights.

PIA’s two-way flights to the UAE are also on the way to resumption and relief operations are underway for the repatriation of Pakistanis from other countries.

A PIA spokesman said special flights to Saudi Arabia, Central Asian states and Iraq were being maintained and all precautionary measures were being taken to provide facilities to passengers under SOPs.

PIA has also made a historic reduction in domestic fares.

The one-way fare from Karachi to Islamabad has been fixed to Rs. 9572.

A spokesperson said that similarly, the one-way fare between Karachi and Lahore has also fixed to Rs 9572. Passengers will be allowed to hand carry seven kilograms of luggage with them when travelling domestically.

A spokesman for the national airline said the new fares issued for domestic travel would take effect immediately.

The national flag carrier had announced a reduction in fares for all domestic flights a week ago.

The PIA spokesman said that the one-way fare for Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and other cities has been fixed to Rs 12,000.

Furthermore, the spokesperson had said that PIA has reduced fares for the convenience of passengers which will be applicable from today.
