The bad news for cricket fans is that the scheduled T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia has been postponed due to the coronavirus.

The mainboard meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) was held today on a video link in which it was announced that the scheduled T20 World Cup in Australia will be postponed in October-November this year.

According to the ICC, the World Twenty20 events will now take place in 2021 and 2022.

The host country of the 2021 and 2022 World T20 events has not yet been announced, but the 2021 World T20 was scheduled to take place in India.

The date of the 2023 World Cup (50 overs) in India has also been extended by six months. Now the 2023 World Cup will be played in October and November instead of February-March.

According to the International Cricket Council, the decision to postpone the T20 World Cup was taken at a meeting of the ICC’s IBC board.

ICC chief executive Manu Sawhney said that the aim of advancing the Fifty Overs World Cup is to complete the qualifying period.

He said that now that the events have been rescheduled, all the boards now have the opportunity to reschedule their bilateral cricket and domestic cricket in this window.

On the other hand, the ICC has agreed to schedule the Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand next year as per the current schedule, but the final decision in this regard will be based on the circumstances.
