TikTok is going to take legal action in response to the ban imposed by US President Donald Trump.

Officials in Washington are concerned that TikTok could pass data on American users to the Chinese government.

The video app says that it has tried to work with Mr. Trump’s government for around a year. But it faced a lack of due process and an administration that pays “no attention to facts”.

“To ensure that the rule of law is not discarded and that our company and users are treated fairly, we have no choice but to challenge the executive order through the judicial system,” a company spokesperson said.

The Chinese company is likely to take legal action from this week.

On the other hand, a group of Chinese-Americans filed a lawsuit against Trump’s ban imposed on Chinese App WeChat.

Mr. Trump had earlier claimed that China is capable of tracking the location of federal employees through TikTok.

US President Donald Trump signed executive orders according to which the US firms must stop doing business with TikTok and WeChat within 45 days.

President Trump said that he signed the orders to “protect our national security”.

He said that he has found “additional steps must be taken to deal with the national emergency with respect to the information and communications technology and services supply chain”.
