The Pay and Pension Commission, set up by the federal government, has so far failed to make recommendations on long-standing demands to close the pay gap and increase in salaries in federal agencies.

According to sources in the bureaucracy, the Federal Secretariat employees have decided to hold a sit-in protest in front of the Finance Ministry on September 15 over the stalemate in the proceedings of the Pay and Pension Commission.

Federal Secretariat employees have recently staged a sit-in in front of the Finance Ministry for 32 consecutive days from February to March this year for approval of their demands. Hafeez Sheikh, a financial adviser, was also surrounded during the operation.

According to sources in the bureaucracy, the Pay and Pension Commission is required to prepare recommendations within six months, while the six months of the Pay and Pension Commission are coming to an end on October 14.

According to sources, due to the recent orders of the federal government to ban the expression of government employees, the entire campaign of the September 15 protests is going on secretly in the ministries, departments and divisions of the Federal Secretariat.

According to sources, the next course of action will be announced during the protest on September 15 and the ongoing struggle for a pay rise and equal rights will continue till the goals are achieved.
