ISLAMABAD: Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said that NAB is a focal point under the United Nations Convention against Corruption and it is a priority to bring white-collar crime cases of mega corruption to a logical conclusion.

According to details, Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said in his statement that bringing white-collar crime cases of mega corruption to a logical conclusion is a priority. The overall conviction rate in NAB cases is 68.8%.

Chairman NAB said that NAB is a focal point under the UN Convention against Corruption. The World Economic Forum, Transparency International has praised NAB.

Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said that NAB received 53643 complaints in 2019 out of which 42760 were disposed of while 48591 complaints were received in 2018 out of which 41414 were disposed of. The increase in complaints shows public confidence in NAB.

He said that NAB examined 1308 complaints during 2019 while 1686 inquiries and 609 investigations were disposed of in 2019, importing Rs 363 billion from corrupt elements in two years.

The Chairman NAB further said that NAB has a system of the joint investigation team of senior supervisory officers. A forensic science laboratory has been set up at NAB Rawalpindi, which has the facility of digital forensics, question paper, fingerprint analysis.
