As Pakistan blocked five dating apps for not adhering to local laws, Tinder, one of the most renowned dating apps around the world has said that to discuss its products and moderation efforts, it would welcome the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to have a “meaningful conversation”.

In a statement Tinder said,

“Our team uses a network of industry-leading automated and manual moderation and review tools, systems, and processes – and invests significant resources – to prevent, monitor, and remove inappropriate content from our app.”

The statement further read,

“At the same time, we are constantly evaluating and refining our processes, and will always work with regulators and law enforcement, where possible, to protect our members. We welcome the opportunity to discuss our product and moderation efforts with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and look forward to a meaningful conversation.”

As per the data analytics firm Sensor Tower, within the last 12 months, Tinder had been downloaded in Pakistan more than 440,000 times.

Other blocked dating apps including Grindr, Tagged, and SayHi had been downloaded about 300,000 times, and 100,000 times Skout was downloaded in the same period.

It should be mentioned here that the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has blocked 5 datings and live streaming applications, including Tinder, Tagged, Skout, Grindr, and SayHi.
