Karachi Administrator Iftikhar Ali Shalwani reported on Friday that Turkey has put an offer to launch tram services in the metropolitan city. The administration is working on a plan to re-launch this economic service in the port city.

Turkish Consul General Tolga Ucak had offered to launch the services in the city in a meeting with the administrator of Karachi last month.

While addressing a ceremony, the administrator said the route the tram is expected to take would comprise of nine kilometers.

“The city government is working over a plan to run tram service in Karachi between Metropole and I I Chundrigar Road”, he said.

He also added that the Karachi administration would be organizing a marathon race in Karachi the following year.
