Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reported visit to Saudi Arabia, the Israeli Ministry of Health added Saudi Arabia to its “green” list of coronavirus.

The list includes countries from which returnees do not have to stay in quarantine.

According to the foreign news agency ‘AFP’, the Israeli Ministry of Health confirmed that Saudi Arabia was included in the list of safe countries a day ago, but denied any connection to Netanyahu’s reported visit to the futuristic Red Sea city of Neom on Sunday.

“This is a very simple process, which happens once every two weeks,” Hezi Levi, director general of the Israeli Ministry of Health, told state broadcaster Kan.

He said that Saudi Arabia was one of the red countries in the previous list but now the number of patients there is decreasing so it has now been included in the green countries and it has nothing to do with anyone visiting any country.

It should be noted that the Israeli media report yesterday revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in New York, although there are no diplomatic relations between the two countries.

There is speculation that Saudi Arabia could be the next Arab country to normalize relations with Israel.

Israeli government sources confirmed the meeting to AFP, which was denied by the Saudi government, and Saudi Arabia has made it clear that it will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel until the Palestinian conflict is resolved.

If Saudi Arabia was not included in Israel’s “green” list of coronaviruses, Netanyahu and his staff would technically have to spend 14 days in quarantine on their return from Saudi Arabia.

The second country to be added to the green list in Israel’s latest list is Bahrain, which has established relations with Israel with its Gulf ally the United Arab Emirates, both third and fourth.

On Tuesday, Benjamin Netanyahu announced talks with Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and soon accepted an invitation to pay an official visit to Bahrain.
