The gold mine collapsed in the La Esperanza region of Nicaragua and traps around 10 people.

On Friday, the state-run media announced a mudslide in an unregistered gold mine in Nicaragua trapped at least 10 employees.

Rescue teams started to work just after the tragedy to try to save the miners in the southern Nicaraguan region of La Esperanza.

Vice President Rosario Murillo, who is also the spokeswoman for the government did not specify how many workers were all in the shaft when it collapsed or whether casualties occurred.

However, as per the statement of the witnesses, it is being said that at least 15 people are stuck in the mine.

An estimated 3,000 individuals in Nicaragua work in unauthorized mines.

In 2014, a landslip in the northern part of the country also killed at least 24 gold miners.
