Like the rest of the country, the colours of Holi spread in the Tharparkar district of Sindh where the Hindu community celebrated its religious festival with great devotion and respect.
In Tharparkar, colourful festivals of Holi were celebrated in Mithi, Islamkot, Nangarparkar, Chachro, Cheelhar, Dahli, Diplo, Chloe, Kantio, Kasbo and other cities.
The main Holi celebrations in the district were organized by the Sonara community in Mithi, attended by hundreds of people of different faiths.
Arbab Lutfullah, a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), specially attended the Holi function and said that there was an urgent need to preserve this ideal brotherhood and peace in Thar today.
He said that youth have an important role to play for peace and brotherhood in Thar and we will work day and night to uphold these traditions of Thar. Thar Parkar is a model for religious harmony all over the world.
In their address, the political and social leaders said that by spreading the message of tolerance, peace and love on the occasion of Holi, we are saving the centuries-old tradition of Thar and sending a message to the enemies of our country that we are all a peaceful Pakistani nation.
Participants of the Holi festival showered colours on each other, distributed sweets. The event also featured a concert where locally popular singers performed.
