Security officials have arrested more than 100 activists of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) as the protest against Saad Hussain Rizvi’s arrest entered the second day.

According to the details, the paramilitary troops were deployed for the security of the Red Zone, diplomatic enclave and all important government buildings across the country.

Amid the clashes, security officials apprehended more than 100 protestors for violating law and order situation.

It was reported that at least five policemen, including DSP City, were injured in clashes between protesters and police last night in Karachi.

Protests began after Saad Rizvi, leader of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) party, was arrested by police in Lahore on Monday.

Massive traffic jams were witnessed across the country following Saad Rizvi’s arrest. Several passengers fail to reach airports.

In November, the TLP called off a sit-in protest that had blocked a major highway into the capital Islamabad over the issue of remarks by President Macron that had been considered Islamophobic.

The party rose to further prominence after the country’s 2018 general election, when it secured the fourth-highest share of the popular vote for parliamentary seats.
