According to reports, on Tuesday, Director General Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned karachiites against the prevalence of sweltering hot weather in the city in June.

Weather officials said, “The mercury will remain between 38 degree Celsius to 40 Celsius in the first half of June,”

According to him, the temperatures could slide from 15th June to 20th June.

He further told that the region is likely to receive more rainfall than the routine rainfall this year also like it happened the previous year.

The monsoon season of Pakistan starts from 1st July and lasts till 30th Sept, and typically receives 140.8 millimeters of rainfall from July to September.

The monsoon season is influenced by the El Niño, as well as the temperature variations in the Indian Ocean.

If the predicted average rainfall happened this monsoon, then there could be threats of urban flooding in the cities. The Meteorological department has last year also forecasted more rainfall than usual during the monsoon season particularly in the southern parts of the country.
