Tarin seeks proposals for divesting govt shares in Mari Petroleum

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin on Wednesday directed the Privatisation Commission and the Ministry of Petroleum to come up with the comprehensive proposals for divestment of government shares in Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), official Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

Chairing the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP), the minister said the divestment issue should be further examined in the light of discussions held on Wednesday and a comprehensive proposal should be presented in the next CCoP meeting.
The committee also discussed the proposal for the privatisation of the Services International Hotel and after thorough deliberations approved the revised reserve price subject to further approval by the Cabinet.

The Cabinet Committee on Privatisation also examined the proposal for the removal of the Pakistan Engineering Company (PECO) from the active privatisation list.

The CCoP directed constitution of a committee consisting of the representatives of the Privatisation Commission, Law Division, Establishment Division, Industries and Production Division, Finance Division and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) to thoroughly analyse the case and come up with its proposals on the issues highlighted in the meeting.
