Walt Disney said it has earned $125 million in online sales from the Marvel superhero film Black Widow, just three weeks after being sued by its star, Scarlett Johansson.

The performer filed a lawsuit against Disney last month, alleging that the business violated her contract by releasing the film on streaming at the same time it was released in theatres.

Johansson’s lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, claimed that Black Widow’s dual release approach had lowered her pay.

Disney had said there was “no merit” to the lawsuit, adding that the release of the film “significantly enhanced her (Johansson’s) ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20 million she has received to date.”

The suit’s conclusion could have broader implications in the entertainment business, as media companies aim to expand their streaming services by offering premium programming to entice members.
