The Greater Darwin lockdown has been lifted, however, the Katherine lockdown has been prolonged for another 24 hours, according to the Chief Minister.

The Katherine lockdown, according to Michael Gunner, is “on track” to end at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greater Darwin lockdown was lifted at 12 p.m. today, although limitations such as the restriction to wear a mask will remain unchanged.

“We have 12 people from the Katherine Woolies that we are still trying to locate.”

“The casual contact pool is now 626 people, the vast majority from the Katherine Woolies,” he said.

After the decision of lockdown came after the NT found no new cases of coronavirus overnight from a total of 2,403 tests.

Mr. Gunner, on the other hand, claimed wastewater testing in Darwin had revealed a weak positive result in Darwin CBD and a positive result in Katherine.

Mr. Gunner said the lockdown in Greater Darwin would be removed on time, but not in Katherine since the wastewater results in Katherine were stronger, and important contacts in the region had still to be found.

“Of the 626 causal contacts, 272 have returned a negative result and have entered their isolation. We have another 232 negative results that we are now matching back to the casual contact list.”

“That means we have about 20 percent of our casual contacts with results pending,” he said.
