Waar (2013)

Released in 2013, this action-thriller film was able to set the bar high for future films. Featuring well-known celebrities like Shaan Shahid, Shamoon Abbasi, Meesha Shafi, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Ali Azmat in lead roles, the plot follows around Major Ehtesham (Shaan Shahid) leading a complex counter-terrorism operation in tribal units along with an incident of Police Academy Lahore 2009. Waar (The strike) was widely lauded for being a well-executed action war thriller and is the seventh highest-grossing Pakistani film.
Sherdil (2019)

Set against the backdrop of Pakistan Air Force, Sherdil (Lionheart) is a 2019 Pakistani action film that is meant to inspire you with a sense of pride and patriotism. Featuring Mikaal Zulfiqar, Hassan Niazi, Armeena Rana Khan and Sabeeka Imam in lead roles, this film was released at a time when Pakistan Airforce had shot down two Indian jets in a historic dogfight and captured its pilot. The plot revolves around the journey of Flight Lieutenant Haris Mustafa (Mikaal Zulfikar) from a fresh PAF recruit to a true battle hero. An epic visual treat with high-octane action scenes, Sherdil was a commercial success and honored the brave soldiers of the Pakistan Air Force flawlessly.
Yalghaar (2017)

Previously named Delta Echo Foxtrot, Yalghaar (Assault/ Attack) is a 2017 war-epic film inspired by the successful military operation in Swat valley. With a plot that is inclined towards patriotic fervor, the movie dives deep into the endeavors of the Special Services Group (SSG) militants and their personal lives. It showcased an all-star ensemble cast such as Shaan Shahid in the main role, alongside Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Armeena Khan, Aleeze Nasser, Ayesha Omer, Sana Bucha and Bilal Ashraf. The film also paid tribute to the slain children of the 2014 Peshawar school attack while simultaneously mirroring the sacrifices of our national heroes. Needless to say, it will awake your inner patriot for sure!
Parwaaz Hai Junoon (2018)

Being the fifth highest-grossing Pakistani film, Parwaz Hai Junoon (Soaring is Passion) truly won our hearts upon its release in 2018. Including a star-studded cast of actors such as Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Aamir, Ahad Raza Mir and Shaz Khan, this aerial combat-war film has everything one could ask for; romance, light-hearted comedy, aesthetic aerial shots and power-packed action sequences. The blockbuster did give us some fresh perspective on the air force in its attempt to humanize fighter pilots by exploring their personal lives and the trials and tribulations they face on the battlefield. Overall, this movie is a must-watch if you are a die-hard PAF fan.
