Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the ODI squad announcement as the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has not finalized the schedule and travel plan for the series.

The ACB announcement delay is due to the backdrop of the current developing situation in Afghanistan, as their country has been taken over by the Taliban.

A PCB spokesperson said that the ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan was scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka from 3rd September – 9th September, on which Afghanistan agreed to host the series.

He further added that PCB decided to start the training camp for the series from 21st August – 28th August.

However, ACB has been unsuccessful to do its job so far, that’s why PCB decided to hold on to the squad announcement and training camp.

“We do not want to make additional expenses.”

According to the sources, the ACB is helpless as the commercial flight operations from Kabul are partially permitted to fly so far, and until they are completely operational the series will remain in doubt.

As per the reports, the ACB has communicated with the Taliban official and, so far, they have not received any signal from them that they would bar cricket from Afghanistan.

Sources said, “Cricket series are on as per schedule as the sport will send a positive message [about Afghanistan] around the globe,”
They said that the ACB would not face any problem other than the logistics.
