ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has enormous investment opportunities for foreign investors and they should take full advantage of the same, a government official said.

Talking to Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Kuninori Matsuda and Japanese investors, who called on her, Board of Investment secretary Fareena Mazhar assured him that she will personally take up the issue of advance tax with the quarters concerned for its resolution.

The ambassador appreciated the secretary and her team for working towards creating a conducive environment for the existing and potential investors and expressed interest of the Japanese companies for further investment in Pakistan.

He said some Japanese companies are expected to tap Pakistan’s market soon. Discussing the potential investment opportunities with the secretary, Matsuda specifically showed interest in the food processing and automobile sectors, which were already the priority sectors of Pakistan in terms of incentives.

During the meeting, the two sides underscored the need for bilateral investment, creating mutually beneficial scenarios.

The Japanese ambassador apprised the BoI secretary about a joint dialogue between the government and private sector of Pakistan and Japan scheduled for the second half of the year.

He also shared that next year will mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Pakistan, which will act as an opportunity to further strengthen the already cordial relations between the two countries.
