Karachi: Sindh High Court on Friday gave one-time permission to former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon to travel abroad and directed him to approach the trial court in this regard.

A two-member bench of SHC headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro held that Inam can travel abroad for 30 days from the trial court orders. The court also directed him to furnish security bond of Rs1 million.

Pleading Inam’s application, his counsel submitted that his client’s daughter was studying at a US institution and he wanted to travel abroad to meet her.

The prosecutor for National Accountability Bureau (NAB), however, opposed the application submitting that two reference and a NAB inquiry have been pending against the applicant. The NAB prosecutor apprehended that if the applicant was allowed to leave the country he would not return to face trial and inquiry.
