Strict action to be taken against sexual assaulters: CCPO Lahore

LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said that sexual assault of children and women cannot be tolerated at any cost and strict action would be taken against the criminals involved.

The two accused involved in rape assault of a 35-year-old and her 15-year-old daughter were arrested by Lahore Police within few hours after the incident was reported, the CCPO said while addressing a press conference on Monday.

The CCPO said the victims had informed police through 15 that the accused rickshaw driver and his aide had raped them while they were trying to get a rickshaw near Thokar Niaz Baig at 10pm Sunday night.

The victims had come here to see their relatives in Sadar Cantt Board Officers Colony. According to the CCPO, both the accused have been arrested and a rape case has been registered against them.

Talking about the Greater Iqbal Park molestation case, DIG Investigation Lahore Shariq Jamal told the media that as many as 130 suspects have been taken into custody so far and investigation was in process on the modern line of action. He further said challan of the involved accused will be submitted soon as the process of identification by the victim lady is completed through the court.

On the other hand, CPO Faisalabad Captain (retd) Sohail Chaudhry has been posted as DIG Operations Lahore after the alleged molestation case at Minar-e-Pakistan due to which DIG Sajid Kayani had to lose his post of DIG Operations Lahore.
