Stuart Broad has emerged with an injury doubt for the upcoming second Test against India.

He also skipped the net sessions on Tuesday as he was feeling discomfort in his calf. He will be assessed by the medical team and the final decision will be made over his availability for his test.

It is to be noted that if Stuart Broad plays the second Test, this will be his 150th.

Broad did not play well as he could not take any wicket during the first innings of the first test, which concluded as a draw due to rain. However, he looked in good shape on the fourth evening after taking one wicket.

If Stuart Broad is to be ruled out due to fitness issues, then England has Mark Wood as a second plan.

Wood could have come in anyway to spruce up a Nottingham side that lacked a 90mph option.

Craig Overton of Somerset was added to the 18-man test squad after Ben Stokes withdrew to prioritize his mental health.

An update from the England and Wales Cricket Board read: “England seamer Stuart Broad has tweaked his right calf in today’s warm-up at Lord’s.

“He was unable to train this afternoon with the rest of the England squad. Broad will have a scan tomorrow to determine the extent of his injury.”
