To set a Guinness World Record and raise money for charity, a British man bounced more than 10 miles on an inflatable ball.

While discussing possibilities for Trinity Hospice and Palliative Care Services fundraisers, David Kay, of Blackpool, came up with the concept for his world-record-breaking excursion on a “space hopper,” an inflatable ball that allows riders to bounce while seated.

Kay stated that he meant to bounce the entire 13-mile length of the Fylde coast, but he chose to stop after 10 1/2 miles due to the number of space hoppers he popped along the way and the impact of the 17-hour bouncing session was having on his body.

Kay stated that he made every effort to meet Guinness guidelines, including having someone videotape him at all times. According to him, a member of his support staff moved in front of him with a broom to keep any risks from popping his hoppers.

Kay exceeded his $13,750 fundraising target, according to Trinity Hospice and Palliative Care Services.
